My favorite song at the moment is “Hello” by Adele. This song has been a constant favorite of mine for a few months now. Adele has such a powerful and amazing voice. The purpose of the song “Hello” is to tell a story about love and loss and forgiveness. Adele uses the song to tell a story about losing someone that she loved and cared about, and even though they have not been in contact for a long time, she is hoping to reach this person and apologize for hurting them, but she can't reach them and it seems like they have completely moved on. The great thing about Adele’s music is that it’s really for anyone. I feel that most people would find her extremely talented and enjoy listening to her music, but the target audience for a lot of the messages she sends through her songs would probably be young-adult to middle-aged people. This song, in specific, may be targeted at a bit of an older crowd because its talking about losing someone and falling out of touch with them for a long time and then not being able to talk to them again when you are trying to move on from what happened, but I feel that many people can connect to what Adele is singing about in “Hello”. The rhetorical appeals used is pathos. Adele is appealing to her audience’s emotions when singing about love and hurt and loss. The mood of the song is somewhat somber and regretful, and the lyrics match the tone of the whole song. For songs like this, they usually have a slow beat and lyrics that people can relate to and reflect on, which this song does. “Hello” is a powerful song with lyrics that all different people can connect to and understand.
