Best/Most Engaging Twitter Story

There were many engaging and entertaining twitter stories posted by the class, but the one that I found to be the most engage and entertaining was Lacey’s twitter story. She told a story about spending a few weeks at a beach with her family in 8th grade. While at the beach, she met a cute boy and they began talking. Their text conversations mainly consisted of the infamous middle school flirtation game, 20 questions. However, her answers did not go as she planned as autocorrect soon took over and turned her mom into a murderer as she casually mentioned to the guy that “my mom hit my dad with our car”. The message was intended to say “my dog” as the question he had asked her was if she had any pets, but autocorrect worked its magic and, needless to say, their communication ended there. The way that Lacey told it over twitter was what made it the most engaging twitter story that I read. She didn’t simply use words to tell her story, but she also highlighted her excitement and embarrassment and eventual disappointment through a series of memes that she used after each tweet. The memes really added to the story and made it very interactive as they gave a, somewhat comical, idea of what she was feeling throughout the story. I thought the memes were a creative idea that brought her story to life. Not many other stories incorporated memes. I think the memes helped her story stand out from others and they made it very entertaining. Also, she told the story in an efficient manner. You only have 150 characters per tweet so it is difficult to get in a lot of details with that small amount of characters. Lacey was able to share her story in 10 tweets. She included the necessary details and the funny/awkward situation in a total of 1,500 characters. That was part of what made her story so engaging. It wasn’t boring because she stuck to the point and shared this awkward incident in very few words, but she included everything that was necessary to tell a short, funny story.
